Why You Should Ensure Your New Home Has A Termite Treatment Done Before Summer

Summer is fast approaching in the southern hemisphere, and this one promises to be as wild and turbulent as the last few have been. While the majority of the news that has preoccupied people relates to the major bushfires and the intense flooding of the eastern states, there are still down-to-earth issues that everyday Australians across the country need to prepare for. Termites are a danger to all households across the country, and it is important that if you are a new homeowner, you make sure your home has had a proper termite treatment applied, and here are a few reasons why.

There Is Nowhere To Hide

The simple truth of the matter is that while flooding may be more common in some parts of Australia and bushfires more common in others, termites are found all across the country and you cannot hide from them if they find your house. Unless you have actual protective treatments and traps to protect your home, then they will enter it. Once they set up a nest and a queen, they are very difficult to eradicate and it will be far more costly, which is why you need to invest now in the termite treatments that can prevent this from ever happening.

Summer Drives Them Inside

One of the primary reasons termites eat wood is because they need moisture from it to survive. They cannot live in the heat forever, and the hotter months can drive them to seek shelter and water. Outside wood is no longer as attractive because it is still in the heat of the day, whereas cooler wood, like the type found inside your home or underneath it, is much more appealing. If you haven't had a treatment done, then you really do need to ensure it is finished before summer hits.

Extremely Hard To Remove Once Inside

You may think that you can take your chances and if you do get termites, you will simply pay to have them removed, but you are underestimating how difficult that is. Not only will the pest control agents likely have to fumigate your whole home, but even that is not guaranteed to get them all. Removal methods are far less accurate than preventative methods, and a lot more invasive to your privacy. The last thing you want is your new home smelling of chemicals for years and years to come, which is why a termite treatment is a superior option.
